Through a new PPA contract with Statkraft, Europe’s largest producer of renewable energy, Power & Air Solution will obtain around 920 gigawatt hours of wind power for Telekom from 2023, thus ensuring the continued operation of 16 wind farms.
Statkraft and Power & Air Solutions are thus supporting the telecommunications group in its climate protection goals. Since 2021, Deutsche Telekom AG has been sourcing 100 percent of its electricity from renewable sources. In Germany, Power & Air Solutions has been buying exclusively green electricity since 2020. “For us, power purchase agreements are a central instrument of the energy transition and we are constantly increasing the proportion of electricity from such long-term power purchase agreements in our portfolio,” says Bernd Schulte-Sprenger, Managing Director of Power & Air Solutions.
This is the second agreement signed by Statkraft and Power & Air Solutions. In addition to the new contract for the annual purchase of 150 GWh of wind energy for the years 2023 to 2028, Statkraft will supply 90 GWh of green electricity with certificates from Norwegian hydropower annually until 2030.
By directly purchasing electricity from renewable energies, we pave the common path forward to fully sustainable energy supply – both for us as a company and for society as a whole.
